Admission Procedures for Reception (Children aged 4-5)

Booker Hill School's Published Admission Number is 30 children in the Reception Class. Children start in the September of the academic year of their fifth birthday.*

Parents are welcome to make an appointment to visit the school preferably when children are present. Please contact Mrs Nawaz - Khan via the school office. 

The Head teacher and Reception teacher hold a meeting in the Summer term to give information to parents about the school, including the PTA and uniform and also to answer any questions.

All applicants must complete the Local Authority online application form.

Selection and Oversubscription Criteria

Children are admitted to Booker Hill School according to the Local Authority criteria, which is as follows:

  1. Children who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs which name the school.
  2. Children in public care for whom the Local Authority decides that the school is the most appropriate.
  3. Children who have exceptional medical, educational or social needs, which can only be met at that school, supported by written evidence from an appropriate professional person.
  4. Children living in the catchment area of the school.
  5. Siblings of children who are attending the school in Reception - Year 5 at the time the allocations are made or have already been offered a place to start in the current academic year at the school.
  6. Once the above rules have been applied, then any further places will be offered in distance order, using the distance between the family's normal home address and the school's nearest entrance gate, offering the closest first. They use the shortest appropriate route.

Admission Arrangements for Our Nursery (Children Aged 2-4)

The Nursery class accommodates 2, 3- and 4-year-old children.

Nursery intakes currently happen on a termly basis: September, January and April.

Children are admitted into the Nursery without reference to gender, ethnicity, ability or aptitude.
